Changing of the Guard.

Three weeks into grad school this summer my car conk out. Pyro, my car’s name, was a 1993 Pontiac Grand AM and she was the first car I ever owned. I have owned Pyro since my junior year in college. She had been with me a very long time and while I was spending a significant among of money on her maintenance and up keep I finally had to call it quits when she keep dying on me every 20 miles. The funny thing was she died on the way to Firestone to get her fixed. I find it amazing that I had Pyro for 12 years, making her almost 16 year old. I decided then I just needed another used car and would donate Pyro to a local charity.

I didn’t have a lot of time to look for a car because my sister was acting as my chaffier and I knew that was going to get old fast. So I did a lot of internet searches and we spent every weekends going out and looking at used cars. I was looking at a 2009 used Kia Sportage with 30k miles when the sales rep said he could get me into a new 2011 Kia Sportage with 200 miles on it. I am not the wheeler & dealer of the family, so I was really glad that my sister was with me and was able to help me get past their sales pitch and stick to my bottom line to get the car. I decided to name him  Maru Jap

I’m not sure if it was the best deal I could have made but we agreed to 6 years at 4% interest rate with a monthly payment of $356 (that a total of $25,632) after my $2,500 down. This is my first new car so I am excited about it.

I decided to name her Maru which is Japanese for perfect; because she was the perfect gift from God.   As a side note, it was only happenchance that the name was inspired by a character that I am currently passionate about is Sesshoumaru from the Inuyasha Manga/animation series.
